My understanding is severely limited Sam, I am still trying to work all that out. Did some other stuff this week.

My understanding is that if you run it as a foreground service you can add a notification, and allow the service to keep running even when the user switches to another app or the screen is off. Background services are only allowed to get the location a few times an hour.
Adding a notification would also give the option of having pause / stop buttons in the notification area for easy access.
Apologies if this is all a bit sucking eggs

I’ve barely shelled the eggs Sam, so don’t worry about that. Goodness knows how I’ll fit them in my gob.

Just thought I'd give you a nudge Fetch, so put the badges away and chip away at the egg shells for a while
Thanks

Yes I was thinking about this the other day as well, just wondering when we may be able to trial something ...

Funnily enough, I've brought the Android up to Notts with me. If I've got time tomorrow morning, I'll try to remind myself of where I got up to.

Can't remember if I posted this - is the app something you could open / fetch source using something like gitlab to allow interested parties to help develop?

I guess it could be Sam, although (a) I've been flying solo for so long, I'm not at all sure that my methods are in line with anyone elses; and (b) a bit of nervousness at opening up anything that gets remotely close to revealing any issues etc.
I *do* have a captive app developer at home at the moment - Katie's eldest - so he might be a good place to start if I can persuade him.
From memory, I'd got most of the way there in terms of the absolute basics - but was struggling to keep the service running when the screen goes dark.
