Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Paula, I would say little and often might be a way to start and habit form. Maybe just a set of 3 different exercises, 15 minutes or so to start with? I only use bodyweight, but technique is important. There are lots of videos around though.

AR, jovial gnome has a rest home for retired sheep and this was a half marathon and the entry fee was to help pay for the 28 sheep he has. Even if you never listen to the fetch podcast you should listen to this week’s one as he does a piece on how how he came about to have these sheep. :-)

I'm also thinking that the strength session I do with the club would be a good choice. He could do 1 or 2 sets to start with, rather than 3, and cut down the reps and amount of time - 10 squats instead of 16, and 30 secs of plank rather than 1 minute.

And I have videos of how to do all of the exercises that I could send to him.

The reason I like online classes is that a professional spends hours dreaming up good combinations, picks the music and varies things a lot. I’d get bored after a week of doing the same thing. I agree with um though that some hill walking would be excellent cardio if he doesn’t want to run!
There are also boot camps running in real life in many parks all over the place also, that would be a really good way to start too.

I did online pilates and then online rebound so a trifecta of classes today though the best one was the real life one.
My throat is a bit sore again, definitely allergies!

83km on the bike with a stop for lunch at a fantastic fish restaurant. Should have had a child's portion though! A few borderline burps on the hills coming home!

Garmin also gave me a medal for my longest ride and fastest 40k and a badge for a 50 mile ride :) A gazillion flowers planted for fetchpoint a few new or recovered conquersize zones.

Productive day! How did we motivate ourselves before GPS?!

Oh I've just remembered the conditioning circuit my son's school set him. (But it would be good to have every instruction on how to do the exercises properly, though).

3 circuits of 8 bodyweight exercises for 30seconds each with 30seconds rest between each, 2 mins rest between circuits

squat
press up
burpees
sit ups
jumping jacks
chair dips
mountain climbers
walking lunges

When he started he only did 2 circuits, but he quickly moved up to 3. You can substitute for different exercises, but always good to mix aerobic (eg JJs, burpees, mountain climbers, cycle crunches) and strength exercises.

Any plan needs to start slow. If he ends up with weapons-grade doms after the first session he’s not likely to carry on. Perhaps leave the burpees for week 2 :-)
