Oscar's Everyone Day

Sunday 23rd June 2024
In 2021 Oscar the Grouch proposed one day each year where "we unite as a community and EVERYONE records an activity of some sort - a dog walk, a run, a swim, a ride, ski if you want...".

Sadly we lost Oscar in March, so I'd like to dedicate Everyone Day to him. Thank you for the inspiration you gave us Oscar.

ironman well chuffed, never got under 1-30 before, last time i got near was in 1983 doing the loughborough half as a 15 year old. suffering now though. was one of my aims before i get too old to get under 1-30. also managed a sub 40 10k and sub 70 at 10 miles. well marshalled, lots effort made, free soup, nice finish, other races should have a look. Ally2 Entered 25/9 so something to look forward to in the bleak midwinter. Cold but windless so great conditions, Course has some toughish hills at 3,7, 11 mile and at 12.5 and rest is flat or slightly downhill. However was on my own from mile1 although could always see Dav Connor ahead. Was ahead of PB at 10mile but final 5k was tough as the hills had wiped me out and there were no crowds to pull me along. Splits 1mile 5:27,3mile 16:34, 5mile 28;08, 7mile 39:33,10mile 56:39 (unofficial PB), final 5k 18:19 so pace dropped. Pleased with sub 75 and on easier course with more runners near me i.e city race should get sub 74 soon. Well organised race and came 5th and won a turkey. Rich963 Struggled to really get going - legs felt cold and tight from the very start. HR was low and hills didn't feel too difficult, but just couldn't really push on any harder for some reason - also felt very cold all the way round, despite t-shirt and gloves. Maybe the end of this cold and lack of training over the last month did for it. Really enjoyable race though. Stilton Striders RC 1:28:39 1:30:10 1:29:50 1:33:38 61.92
