Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

What do you know today, that you did not yesterday?

The Neil Diamond song 'Cracklin Rosie' is about a bottle of wine and not a woman who, for example, likes a pork roast. 'You're a store-bought woman' makes a lot more sense now.

I also found out that Sweet Caroline was written for his wife Marcia. He spent ages trying to come up with a rhyme for Marcia before giving up and settling on Caroline instead.

Wouldn't she be pronounced Marsha?

(Impressed by hamartia though it is cruel if it means what I think it does).

(I shamelessly acquired it from google who said: Aristotle introduced the term in the Poetics to describe the error of judgment which ultimately brings about the tragic hero's downfall. I think not being an error of judgement is a good thing)
