I've put together a calculator based on the Daniels and Gilbert formula for estimating VO2Max - here it is: http://www.fetcheveryone.com/training-calculators-vo2max.php Cheers Me |

Thanks. Can you make it generate the associated training paces too? Also, would like moon, preferably on a stick ![]() |

What are they, and how do they relate to VO2 Max?

Daniels (dont know this Gilbert chap) defines pace for interval, and threshold and MP and LSR based on the V-dot, which is what he uses as a functional equivalent of VO2max. Links at the top of this thread: http://www.fetcheveryone.com/viewtopic.php?id=46180 give an idea of the output, the 'attackpoint' one is useable, the 'big spreadsheet' is too big and detailed for me. Basically the primary use of Daniels VO2max/v-dot is to tell you how fast to run in training- it isn't the same as your actual VO2max, but is a very pragmatic estimate. |

I have no idea how they are calculated, his book has pages of tables, but I know they have been updated since the last edition.

Seems to create the right sort of numbers. It certainly agrees with other estimates I have from getting on 20 years ago. It is rather frightening though how much it's dropped in that time but while it's still a good value for someone 15 years younger I guess I should be happy ![]() |
