Training plans do exist, sure - but the difference in distances, terrain, ascent, race format, etc across the ultra spectrum mean there’s much more variety than you might find in marathon training (eg how long longest runs are, time vs distance based plans). Relentless Forward Progress is a solid, popular book for getting going I think. Have a google and you should find some training plans from it to give you a flavour. |

Mr. K.
As zp says Relentless Forward Progress is the book. Excellent training plans - I kind of followed the 100 miles on 50 miles per week plan I think the `trick` to Endure is to avoid the bed. Chair is `ok` but not too long. best is to keep moving forward like say in a point to point event. Look at the split lap times on previous results. |

All about the time on feet realistically. For 100 mile races I try to peak somewhere in the 80 mile per week range, but keeping the bulk to back-to-back weekend long runs.

CW. I did E24 as a pair 2 years ago and managed 12 laps relatively easily on the back of a winter/spring of training focused on The Grizzly as my A race. We did 1 lap on/off and then a double each during the night. Cd probably have snuck 1 more lap in but 60 miles each was enough and we called it with about 1/2 hr to go. I would guess that if your pair is the same standard as I know you are, you could probably fit in a couple more laps each. Maybe an extra double each. We both slept briefly while the other did the double overnight. Some people prefer this others prefer not to sleep. I'm a vg cat-napper :-), so it worked for me. |

Giving this a shake-awake following the hint on Fetch's blog. I may be hanging around here a lot over the next few months, who else has something daft in their future portfolio ? |

It’s not exactly an event (nor for beginners, but this is the only ultra thread discussing training I think?) .. but training for next years Charlie Ramsay attempt is starting in a couple of weeks. What’s on your radar Rosehip? I know you’re in for the L50 at least ![]() |
