Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

It'll be difficult to get tickets but I'd highly recommend Dear England at the National Theatre.

It's about Gareth Southgate and his time as the England men's football manager, with the story taking us from him missing the decisive penalty in the Euro's 96, right up to the Qatar World Cup. It'll help to understand the story if you're a football fan but it's not really about football. It's more about how him transforming the England team became reflected in English society, and the footballers themselves becoming influential in reflecting modern society. The casting is spot on, stage design excellent. Funny, poignant and very well acted. Standing ovation all round.

Also, first time I've been to the Olivier Theatre and there's not a bad seat in the house.

Two minutes to curtain would be too scary, but with ten minutes to go, here's my view from the orchestra pit for the opening night of a production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Not cutting edge contemporary theatre - but some good tunes!

Oooh just found this thread :-)

Can highly recommend The Motive and the Cue at the National. I believe it is transferring into the West End. I loved it.

Have just booked for House of Bernarda Alba in December.

Hope it goes well Ed.
I’ve not been to the theatre for ages (not since November last year), but my friends and I have tickets for As You Like It, at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford, this Saturday - I’m really looking forward to it.

Dr Semmelweiss. Really very good, but not for the faint hearted. Features Mrs Doyle.

Two minutes to curtain for Soho Cinders. A great show that deserves to be better known. I'm in the band again.
