Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

By way of starting this thread I have a question: does anyone know a good source of information about forthcoming shows? By that I mean I often get to hear about a new show opening up only when the star is on a chat show or it’s reviewed in the papers. But by that time most of the (affordable) tickets have already been sold.

So is there any kind of central, relatively independent resource where I can sign up for regular emails that announces X play will open in two months, or Y star has just signed up to be in a show? I’d rather sign up to one single site than have to sign up to a number and get inundated with emails.

FYI I guess I’m mostly talking London West End.

Ta

PS saw Jesus Christ Superstar at the Regent’s Park OA Theatre the other week. Brilliant production, deserves a much longer run.

Resurrecting this thread, luvvies. The Guardian, that bastion of dead posh culcha has compiled a list of the top 50 theatre shows of the 21st Century (so far)
theguardian.com

Have you seen any of em? I've seen *one*. Yay! Go me!

That is an odd collection. I have seen 2 ( Matilda and Hamilton). Considering I have a daughter in the world of Performing arts and I am at the theatre at least once a month with her, it really is an odd list.

As is often the case with the Grauniad etc, it seems more of a 'look how edgy we are' type of list

Indeed. The Guardian is an awful paper these days, and that is an awful list.
