Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I usually use my local theatre for that reason, Sharkie. Plus it's only 5 minutes walk!

Funny you should say that, LD - I was looking at Ocean at the End of the Lane last week, thinking that looks interesting...

We were at We Will Rock You yesterday - hardly highbrow, but I enjoyed it.
Daughter highly recommends Eddie Izzard’s Great Expectations.
Albert Hall for us tomorrow for ballet.

I can walk to Sadlers Wells... but it's still pretty spendy!

Having said that, I think live theatre is often worth it - some things are just so expensive to stage. 'Good' ballet is one of my favourite things (second rate companies don't really cut it unfortunately) But think orchestras, set design and costume... to say nothing of pointe shoes!

Not like the dancers get paid much!

Interesting about Great Expectations - Raffo bought us tickets as a Christmas present for me when Izzard first presented it. This was pre Covid - so ages ago. We were pretty disappointed and were both big fans at the time.

Is it Cinderella in the round HellsBells? Or am I confused?

I saw Bleak Expectations at the Criterion the other week. It’s pretty silly in a ‘sixth form entertainment’ type way, but it’s a lot of fun (and tbh more appealing than Great Expectations, even though I love Eddie Izzard).

Chrisull it wasn't a book group choice but I have read Drive Your Plow. I found it difficult to get into but very rewarding once it clicked with me. A stage adaptation sounds interesting
