Sweetie - I use a ravemen 1200 for night riding and the price should've come down now more. It's dual beam so can have dipped or full beam. The dipped is pretty good and part of my commute is off road.

Many thanks for the lights suggestions, I did nearly spit tea everywhere at the price of the Hope ones - but it is for OH, so I don't want to be too stingy as I'd feel a bit guilty if he got crushed or mashed.

What about them ? I race bicycles, add to that I hate sportives and reports by people bigging up taking all day to ride their bike up and down a few hills because deep down they never prepared and just want to brag they did something.

Don't get me wrong NE I am missing out on some EPIC climbs but thanks to Fred and the Lakeland loop I am sick of the place without going anywhere near it.

Oh and I hate rain, did I mention that I hate rain :¬) ?

I was being a bit tongue in cheek :-) Hey, fair enough - they're not everyone's cup of tea, I have a long-standing love affair going with the Lakes, so whether running or cycling (or swimming) I can't get enough of the place. I don't mind rain either :-)

I should admit that I haven't done the Fred. I will also concede that cycling on Hardknott and Wrynose is very dangerous, when I did the LL it was one of the scariest days ever on a bike.

Lots of fantastic climbs around our way [North Yorkshire] that you should try. One of my mates runs Struggle Events and they make a living out of it :-)
