Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Slow Going
I know that feeling V-Rap. My lack of miles was found out at Abbie (just 2 miles or so earlier than you I think). I'm now on solid base training until early February (with 1 fast paced session per week) - mainly to see if it helps.

Slow Going...
That was the strategy that I used to great effect for my build up to FLM '06. And it gave me a solid foundation from which to build!!

My training history is so chequered that I suspect any programme that makes me run consistently, week after week, until London will improve my running, and I can think about minutiae if I come away from London feeling that I haven't exhausted my potential.

Looks interesting. I did 3:31:58 at Abbi so 3:30 is a real possibility. At the very least I do long runs on Sunday and speed sessions at track on Tues each week and then add some shorter tempo etc on other days. Never have got to 50 miles in a week yet though - maybe I should.

basically,

you need recovery without major fitness loss.

the key to this is less long runs but to do 2-3 interval sessions a week. you will be surprised how many miles you still do but also how much more energy you will have.

MArathon training and base should not start until the new year

Interval sessions? Wibble!

The closest I have EVER come to doing an interval session is when I've eased off for a mile in the middle of a tempo run then picked up the pace again.

And I'm using 18-week schedules, and need to start a week early because I'm going ski-ing for a week in February.
