I love Tanda โค๏ธ!!
WW - I thought we established you loved it too much as correlation isn't causation, lol
Nice HM there!

WW that was the aim today. With 3x2and 2x1 miles. The miles either side all a bit faster than normal as well.
I do read, it just doesnโt always go in, sorry!!
Youโre right SPR of course but this time just trying to encourage larks a bit as I think heโs got a really nice training block in.

Randa is as good as any other marker for giving me a sense of where to start at least. Sub 7:20 pace still feels pretty swift in comparison to how it felt 2 years ago but I can't argue that the last 10 weeks have gone well, so just need to avoid COVID for 14 days!

Baz , you should join a running club ๐ ( comes from someone who also doesn't currently run with a club)
Fergus, you looked far to comfortable... if I wasn't distracted by a toddle monster and saw you quicker the abuse wouldn't have been shy ๐ฑ
WW, nice half... keep up the progression and you'll be back in PB territory again soon!

Hmm shouldn't have looked at that Tanda calculator, basically shows me I've underperformed at every marathon I've done!! And if I follow the same trend this time, I'll not even match what I ran in London!! Hmm, not going to let it put me off, maybe the miles I've yet to run in the next 2 weeks will make some difference to the finals stats.... My final proper long run of 17m yesterday felt tired but the heart rate was low so I think I just need to make sure I taper properly now.
Like larks, I fear my biggest challenge is going to be avoiding the plague, it's rife around here at the moment...
Well done WW, great hm racing ๐

Likewise, Clare, it's even in our house at the moment, but I am still testing clear after a week. I've also underperformed according to Tanda...

I'm guessing Baz has overperformed.

I get what you're saying SPR, but nonetheless if individuals present a similar outcome race vs the input training, as measured by outcome vs Tanda prediction, then maybe it is useful as a benchmark and prediction for the future assuming all other things remain constant.
The key is to make a definitive change to something so that the the projection that Tanda provides can be distinguished for your next race vs previous ones.
For example, if I'd followed P&D 12 week plan 8 times and every time the Tanda algorithm had been a projection 30-60s different to my actual race time (assuming no other race day factors) then on the 9th time I'd be pretty confident that it would be as good as any method of establishing my first half pace. OTOH, if on that 9th time of following P&D I'd increased the pace of my long runs substantially and / or added a cross training or S&C schedule in addition, then there'd be less rationale behind sticking with Tanda's prediction.
I definitely need something to give me a number to work with on the start line and given my outturn vs Tanda in 2017, and adding to it my intelligence about my own state of health / training etc, it's as good as any line in the sand to guide me to 13-15 miles or so.
Training does cause race outcomes, otherwise we wouldn't train. Volume and pace of training must have a causative impact on race outcomes too. All Tanda is doing is putting a very simple formula against that which will work for some and not for others.
