Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Agree on not seeing a pace drop, Baz but got a 20 mile in yesterday in dreadful conditions and miles creeping up towards 50 mpw average.

1:16 for a 10 miler the weekend before last - way off 3:15 pace but it predicts a 3:31 marathon which right now I'd bite your hand off for. Maybe GFA is still on for 2023?

45 miles and just short of 8000ft of ascent Saturday just gone in possibly the worst weather I have ever 'raced' in (and I'm no stranger to Winter mountain races!). I use the term raced lightly, as winds gusting to severe gale plus horrendous muddy underfoot conditions made it more of a walk-slog, but only 63 out of 109 starters even finished so I'll take that, even if I was nearly last! Not fast, but the mental toughness is still there, and there's a lot to be said for not underestimating the conditions and taking three coats out with you...

Baz is that the one in Chessington? If so myself and Magpie are doing it too :)

I'll be delighted with sub 45, but expect a bit slower is more likely on the cards. Treating it as a training run with my 5k coming up in March.

Wow Kinky sounds a bit traumatic, but well done!

A disappointing 1:34 Half on Sunday, but it was very windy, and somewhat hilly. On the flat bits I was doing HMP and felt okay (kind of...), so I am trying to take some comfort from that :) Anyway, it wasn't a main race for me but hoping for better at Bideford Half.

There is the possibility of a 10-mile race this weekend but I won't bother if the wind is due to be bad, again.

I thought I was unlucky enough with a tempo into a headwind on Thursday, kudos to anyone who raced over the weekend, that can't have been pretty!

Ah fair enough Baz - I did think it a little odd for you to be coming all this way for a 10k ;)

Stole their name from the original clearly!

I need more coats!

I'm also inching up on mileage but unlikely to run over 60 mpw until I can 100% convince myself that I will run an Autumn marathon. Some green shoots that consistent training can slow the inevitable age-driven decline though and hopeful of getting back down towards an 82 HM / 18 5k over the next couple of months. To be honest it's just great having events to plan towards again - enjoying it atm for the 1st time in a couple of years.

Windy and hilly 20 today just saw me tip over 60 miles for the week and another week in the bag.

In contrast to previous weekends, today the LR was hard work and Friday night tempo felt better. Still not dropping weight though which I'm starting to feel is going to be the difference between even thinking about sub 3:15 or not.

We all have a few bad longs in any build up larks. Don't write it off yet. How long till race day?

45:07 confirmed for my 10k. Windy and not flat but good strong run out. Definitely got no speed endurance at the moment ๐Ÿ˜‚
