I did it in 2017 on the run up to Chester, and my eldest is having a proper racing crack at it this year. Nice race, not much closed roads and quite a small event, but it's the perfect time in my plan for that race - plan says 18 with 14 at MP, so a race event where I can do 20 with the final 15 at MP, whilst being provided with drinks on route is a perfect alterantive, and it can sort of simulate race day and get the MP miles done. |

Here's my log for the race in 2017 - there's a bit of a slog uphill in the middle, so it's not exactly identical terrain to Chester (!), but it keeps things interesting. fetcheveryone.com/t-14142297 |

First ever podium finish for me today at Firenze parkrun in 19:38. The winner pulled away and trounced me on the third lap. He was under 14!!!!!!!!! Years old not minutes. Lol. In my defence I had done 6.5 miles before including two at tempo pace. |

Nice Baz. I think we should be able to run parkrun with some sort of indicator on our backs (or fronts) indicating how many miles we've done before parkrun so we can earn humble brag points on the way round. 19:12-ish for me at Delamere which would be a narrow home course PB, with five easy either side. Not strictly P&D compliant, should have been 13 with a 5m-10m race in the middle, but ran parkrun to a full out effort so we won't quibble about the missing 2 miles of racing. |

Well done Baz. I've managed 4th at the hilliest in the country. (Beaten also by 2 dog runners, so a moral second). I know that even parkruns are hard fought affairs where top end places are scrapped for.

Lol. There was no scrapping going on. Ran the second lap with the winner but he took over 30 seconds out me in the third lap.

Baz - how close to Scottish we’re the weather conditions? I’m guessing the 14 year old was more acclimatised to the conditions, so you could also claim a further moral victory on that front too.
