Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Though you'll be pleased to know I now use 1 mile auto-lapping, so the eyewatering 0.5 mile laps in my log are now a thing of the past!

for me the sin is the other way around, users cluttering up strava / FE with cacky bits of warm-up / -downs etc!!

I'm stuck in bloody Budapest after some flight chaos. I do like this place but I ran here last night in the rain so now the only kit I for a run this evening is the same, wet, stinky stuff which has nicely fermented in a plastic bag for 18 hours or so. They are going to smell me a mile off!!

Guilty as charged ptb! In race or timed event (parkrun or even a timed mile at track with club) scenario I log WU, WD and the event as 3 separate. But not in a training run. I can read the middle 4 miles of 8 in my tempo (as indeed I could in larkim's - not messy at all!)

But I know you probably do even more statto than me, directly in Fetch, so being able to compare your tempo pace and HR in different marathon campaigns. As I say, if I want to do that, I just copy the numbers into a spreadsheet.

Re. the GPS inaccuracies, I can't do the maths either, but I think their conclusions are, except for an incredibly unlikely single or small number of straight line cut offs, it will never measure short and will always tend to measure long. My own finding (have a look at my track training if you're interested) is consistent 0.x miles long each time.

Yeah, good excuse to buy kit WW! :-) G

I usually don't bother logging warm up/down for a race. Don't see the point really, it's not like I care about losing 2k off my mileage, and it just clutters up the log.

I record WU/WD for tempos and intervals, but for reasons I dont recall MP are just done as one big session

I am broken today. Work team did a volunteering day gardening and labouring at a school named after HGs running club. The boy worked us hard and me being me I did a recovery run early doors and cycled there (uphill) underestimating the time and got there late.

Gonna log 8 hrs cross training

Agree WW. I use Fetch for every mile run but delete warm-ups/downs, from strava and Connect.
On the Gps front my 910xt has been crap lately with lateral and longitudinal drift. I end up plotting the route on mapmyrun and the Fetch route planner and average the two to get a more accurate distance. Interestingly my training runs are always under mileage despite races being above.

Sobuds like you might be broken for a few days Baz!!

Is it those kind of articles that make seemingly everyone run with one of those bloody donut bottle thingies?

For me the tip of eating 4 hours before a run wouldn't work either. I never go 4 hours without eating, let alone before a run!

Did a gently stinky 15 round Buda this evening. This is an amazing place where runners are so well catered for with paths and tracks. Got a bit lost though and asking for directions from local construction workers isn't that easy when my Hungarian doesn't go further than 'szia'!
