Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Good luck today Chris, give it what you've got and the time will take care of itself.

Good effort there hg

It does make me wonder if my 1:28 target is too ambitious given you beat me at Holyrood parkrun quite easily.

Not at all Bazo - you have always had better speed endurance than me, I really should be doing 400 metres or 800 metres given the extrapolation of my race performances!

Also, hillier thanks remember and a slight headwind for last 4 miles. A few clubman were a min or so down in expected time. On another HM course on another day could have been 1:29:xx so your 1:28 target is entirely valid I would say. :-) G

Ah yes. Race conditions always have an untold effect as well.

I will set off at 1:28 pace. First few miles are downhill so will see how that goes. Then hope for a wind from the west to get me to 11 miles and then work as hard as I can for the last couple.

1.42 here, felt surprisingly good, averaging 7.30 pace for first 6 miles, the 2 mile hill into the sunshine took the edge off things and it was my quads that slowed me rather than heart and lungs and a general lack of race seasoning. The closing mile is stupid, hardest of the race, why they finish it on a steep hairpin followed by a short .1 sprint I’ve no idea. Yeah not pulling up trees, but felt like there’s definitely more to come sub 1.40 without too much extra needed. But felt quite reasonable at end, perhaps it is just a few longer runs plus some speed work that will bringg the time down. Sub 1.30 isn’t unimaginable, but I think as I found before 1.42 to 1.32 is easier than 1.32 to 1.29
