Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Sooooo it transpires my UK private pension our business paid into when we could afford it becomes available in January. It isn't much: £109.000
Question is what to do?
Currently thinking of letting it sit there for another couple of years, then review or use it to get an off grid solar setup... And drill for water and create a waste water swale...

From what you've said previously about the precariousness of your health and financial situation I'd look into starting to draw it down and go back to semi-retirement, Hanneke.

I was just thinking that V-rap, thanks :) and if I use some of it for solar power, that would save me more per month than an annuity would pay me!

If it's in a pension fund there will be a limit to how much you can take at once without being hit for tax, but you can take 25% tax free and make a decision about whether and at what rate to draw down the rest.

It is... 25% would pay off the mortgage I had to draw down on again and pay for solar... That would bring the cost of living down dramatically, so I can work less...

Mrs Jigs (Luverlylegs)
I had my annual appraisal last week, I mentioned that I am seriously considering retiring at the end of March, not ready to formally commit yet but haven’t changed my mind.

My annual appraisal included the question "What do you want to be doing in a couple of years time?"

My answer didn't really involve work!
