I suspect the Blonde Army would prefer to wait for me to go cap in hand asking for my job back. Which is a bit stupid, because even if they put my sessions back they way they were before and gave me a 20% pay rise to bring my pay back in line with what the agency locums get I'd still be good value per unit of patient contact.

Back in line is a typo. My weekday sessions have always been paid at a lower rate than I was getting as an agency locum in the noughties.

It's interesting to consider the similarities in the situation to yours and mine, Vrap. Obviously very different jobs but I loved being in the classroom with the kids and making lessons interesting, stimulating and exciting for them. It was the management b$%sh@#t of admin/target setting etc that made life unpleasant. I get the impression that the patients you see appreciate you. Just the management doesn't get it.

Exactly that, Ness. I like seeing patients and doing informal teaching and the job itself was mostly enjoyable. I knew that The Federation would find a way to spoil it eventually. The manner in which they'd spoil it was always going to be a surprise but it's classical Federation management.

You make me almost glad my job doesn't really matter to most people! When I finally go (to flounce would be lovely!) I won't have the feeling anyone is missing me.

I'm putting together a PowerPoint right now that even I can only read as me being an unaffordable luxury. 😕

I heard back from the ‘digital advice’ chap today after he sourced all of the numbers for Mrs axe and I. The surprising outcome is that the advice he can offer is not a good match for our position. It looks like I will be referred to an actual adviser. But they have higher charges
Quite surprised as their concern is that I am too close to the lifetime limit. Hint, I am not although if I worked to 60, keep contributing and we start to get good returns then I may be close. That’s not my plan and so lifetime limit is only a concern if I transfer out which I don’t plan to do.
In fact my position is pretty simple. Take my DB as a pension and put my DC in drawdown, all I need to worry about is where and how I invest the drawdown
I find myself pretty frustrated at the waste of time as I gave him all the numbers ages ago and nothing has changed since then. Well other than my DC pot being worth less due to market movements.
I will speak to the adviser as I get a free consultation, but only to see what he says, no way am I paying the fees he will charge.
In other news, the changes at work are progressing and I would assess there is now a 30/70 chance I could be impacted. Still unlikely but possible. Given my proximity to age 55 and with my length of service, I would be happy if they decide my role is not required. That would open up real options.
