Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

If you're of a certain age you'll remember a couple of hits he had in the charts. Big WikiPedia entry.

I'm sure we've had these already, but they bear repeating. On Craig Charles' show this week. The second one is hair on the back of the neck stuff for me.

He played the 7th Avenue Aviators did he? Outstanding choice, but not exactly mainstream, pretty rare in fact :-) Both excellent records and neither have been played here before, nice one RS medal

I'd put both of them in my top 10 northern tracks. Trying to remember when I first heard them. I think it was Thursday nights at the Thekla about 25 years ago!

I had never heard 7th Avenue Aviators as a young lad, it might have been a connoisseur's item back in the day. It came big second time around though, I remember being played a lot at the Prestwich (Manchester) soul nights about 20 years back.

Ooh, nice one Mr Swits. That was MASSIVE at Wigan, remember it well. Some records just have that "Wigan sound", that was one of them :-)

Some debate amongst YouTube commentators as to whether this *is* The Contours. There's a DJs copy on Soulwax [white label?] but this is the one I found first The rather grainy sepia vid somehow adds to the experience. :)
