Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Cheers Brunski. I think for me at the moment the fact that I trained really well for the marathon but cocked the race up and jogged the last 10 miles means that I’m now seeing the benefit of that training without having the residual tiredness of a well-run marathon in my legs.

I actually picked up for the first time Wednesday and ran a single 4.04km.

Good news, not that hard and not that sore

Bad news, not that sore means it was sore so progress but lots more patience needed yet.

Right now I need to start thinking about June and diet as well as raising the training a little more.

14 miles now this month :-)

Glad you've salvaged something after London Uyuni, the weather really caught a few of us out but those of us who didn't completely rinse ourselves to knock out a (heat affected) sub-optimal time seem to be running ok out the back of it :-)

Gobi - take it as progress mate, it sounds like it might be a gradual process but you'll get there!

Suffered a lot at Highgate.

Slowish opening k in 3.09, then ran a couple of 3.04s trying to get back on target. 15:33 at half way but the wheels quite rapidly fell off running 3:13s for 4 of the last 5kms with one 3.18 finishing in 31:46. Not my finest hour.

The weather was grim but to be honest I feel like that just exacerbated rather than caused a problem. 2 10,000s and a 5000 in 21 days was a tough ask to be firing on all cylinders for and got it wrong this time.

Time to get some training / speed work in and go after the 5 / 3ks!

PB - I watched Highgate, most found conditions tough, so don't beat yourself up about it. Plus you've learnt something for your prep for next time.

Ran a new 1500m PB of 4:27.16 last night 😀. Windy back straight and off the back first couple of laps as pace was hot, passed a few on last two laps. Club coach took splits and I was pretty much 71s all the way.

There may be more to come off on a still day, but that was everything I had today so happy.

Queued for 30 mins for number (enter online but collect and pay on day) and there were confusing announcements about start times etc, which raised stress levels before the race so happy I was still able to perform well. Was a prime candidate for a bad race day.

PB, yes, difficult to sustain performance level when you're racing all the time. I've been going through a crazy period recently: track 400m on the Saturday, 10 miler on the Sunday, 5K on the Wednesday, 10K on the Sunday and this evening a 5 miler. So, a race every 3-4 days. No more for a couple of weeks after this evening, though!
