DT - 3/4 minutes on the AF3, that's worth having. A few faster marathoners on You Tube wore them for LM and back that assertion. Since super shoes cost £200 anyways, probably worth the extra to get these if it is 3 minutes free in a box. Hope you feeling good for the Bristol Half. Yes, from my race horse owner days, remember Chepstow being undulating. Brass Monkey? Wardi - Your lucky with those flat races, nothing flat here! Good news your feeling better and 12.2m sounds a pleasing run. TT - I think Nike noticed more runners at key US marathons were wearing cheaper VF3 vs more expensive AF3, hence the VF4 not being a marathon shoe. Still have and love running in the original Nike4%.
OO - Interesting you preferred the VF2 over the VF3 for MK. From the reviews I've seen the VF3 feels underwhelming for the testers but is faster. Hope to see you in your English vest at Abo. Ger - Great stuff. TR - Are you a bit like the Douglas Adams Hitchhikers Guide character, who was a rain god : you attract running weather, on the harsher end of the scale. LMH - Hope the 3 runs in 3 days goes well.
Rest day here, spent the morning buying flights for my Malaga, Alicante & Rome marathons, amazed at the £20 one-way cost to Malaga & Alicante - the cost of a few Maurteen Gels. A good 8m run with the running clubs 7 minute group (6.45 minute really) last night, 4 of the guys are also going to run Malaga.

Decided to seize the day as leg should be fresh after two rest days and ran twelve miles. Niggles are taking longer to manifest and I'm definitely getting a bit fitter.
Must be nice to spend time planning and arranging all your adventures OuchOuch.

LMH - 12m result! You must be feeling soo much better for this. Great news.
It is. There was also a 2 hour walk along the coastal path around Polzeath (pretty spectacular) in there, so busy busy busy.

I'm still worried about breaking but becoming less so. Don't want to jinx it though!

OO61.. I still have the race 'programme' from the Yorkie half in 1994, that was my very first half marathon! Scores on the doors 92.47. I did find you in the runners listed in the programme. I remember the course quite well. When we were running along the city centre streets I thought we might be routed through Woolworths. 😄

Good to be on the up Wardi
Ouchie - I've still seen frost n the lanes in the last couple of weeks.....good one on the cheap flights
LMH - if you can run regular 10s and 12s and add the odd long run you'll be getting fit.......are you allowed to start adding any faster sections or sessions soon?

Gerard, so do channel islands get an extra bank holiday compared to mainland or do you drop one elsewhere?
Wardi, good to hear the chest is clear. My nose is very nearly clear also finally.
Oo. Surprised you've not come across Vale of York. Is Redcar same day as GNR?
TR, not sure, try have a 40mm heal which is the legal limit and drop to 32mm so 8mm drop. My mate who wore them last night commented though that he wouldn't fancy them in a marathon.
Ouchouch, I think the pumas are just the first brand to go with a release, I suspect next 8 months they'll all release super, super shoes. I'll wait and see how things unfold and maybe get some for Malaga if I get there. The puma shoes are actually cheaper than the AF3 so there's no premium attached to them.
You can't drop in a comment like 'from my race horse owning days' and not elaborate?
Brass monkey was one of my worst race days ever. Travel to York, pay for a hotel to have 30plus mph winds on what was a very open course. Gave up at Mile 2 and ran in a miserable 1.28 or similar when I was running 1.24 and just below!
Lmh, that's good stuff on the 12. Hopefully will feel fine in morning.
Bit of a session yesterday, 12k alternating between hmp and easy. First 2 reps had me blowing then I seemed to settle and last 3 reps were fastest and best feeling. 6m easy with strides this morning then spin tonight.
Had a chat with Matt and put in a load of summer races through to GNR early September.
My mate ran his fastest 5k/parkrun in 5 years yesterday in the puma shoes. Said he felt like he was flying once on the straight, flat roads.

DT19.. I think both me & LMH ran Brass that windy year ( the weather has generally been kind to that race). Ironically on the Monday there was barely a breath of wind. Good session yesterday.
LMH.. nice confidence boost getting 12m done. As you say after a long lay off still better to be cautious.
OO.. excellent price hunting for those flights! Good advance planning.
4.4m this morning then decided to go out with the Thursday evening club run. This totted up to 6.5m for a reasonable double.

DT - a block of summer racing will get your legs turning over.......you might be talking about different shoes to me, the one I saw have no heel?

I've just done some revision......fast R is the new shoe with no heel, aimed at ling bouncy stride runners, or the deviate nitro 3 which is a more trainer/racer but we'll suited to heel strikers and marathons (which is me) although it's narrow (which isn't me).
