(My Dutch girlfriend keeps saying that myself and the British commentators are pronouncing Liege–Bastogne–Liege incorrectly. She says it’s Luik and Bastinaken, or something, but I’m not getting into that argument with her or anyone else!).

In Dutch it is indeed Luik-Bastenaken-Luik. In French Liège-Bastogne-Liège. Bastogne is known for the Battle of the Bulge in the second World War. |
