Nearest other parkrun is Haldon Forest, which is a ForestryEngland site. If they're not back before September... Killerton is next nearest, but that's National Trust... Exmouth is already very busy...

Intriguingly Chichester parkrun were one of the first to get a Yes and their route is three laps around the rugby pitches. I was assuming the thinking was along the lines of 'well if the rugby players can crash around on there...'

Wasn't Exeter the one where you had to take your shoes off and go upstairs in the cafe to get scanned?

Yeps & as LazyDaisy has mentioned, the cycle path was an issue. Lots of signage!

I can confirm that in Australia scanners are not required to be on the roster in advance of the event. We have recently been 'reminded' of this requirement as we rarely meet it. We have found that one scanner per 50 runners is completely unnecessary. As queues don't build up the faster runners don't offer to scan and there is no impetus for the RD on the day to ask. As RD I would much rather have 3 scanners and 2 marshals than 5 scanners. I would say the new app does make it very easy to add additional scanners if you have them.

Heslington parkrun might be fun if York isnโt open (which it currently isnโt according to the list).

One issue I have heard about but not seen personally with the new app process is a parkrunner presenting their barcode on a phone to be scanned and told sorry we don't scan from phones. The parkrunner got a friend to open the app and scan his phone barcode. They were attempting to upload the results via the QR code when spotted by the RD.

The QR code should only be kept by the RD and not generally available. Also when the results are viewed in WebFMS you can see the uploader and the number of scans so it would be easy to spot and ignore.

I love the new system, much better and quicker than the old way with cables etc but the key word in your sentence is "should". And the low number of runners in a file could be for any number of reasons. I. Not suggesting it is a deal breakernfor the process, just that people need to aware it is possible.

The new system tells you who did the scanning, so if you get an upload with just one result you'll know it's dodgy and can edit out if you want to. (This means it also alerts HQ if the RD's phone gets used to scan barcodes, and then you get an email the next day asking why...)
