Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Hi Everyone,

I had a problem with the "Who Squares Wins!" game, one of the squares was completely inaccessible, I solved that problem last week, by renting an allotments in the otherwise closed square. Now I have a new problem, I need to learn how to Garden, hence my lurking in this wire.

So far the allotment seems to excel at growing Mint and Bindweed, but it also comes with a few Blackcurrant / Gooseburry bushes, a path covered in Strawberry plants and a couple of Cherry Trees.

I've planted some potatoes and onions, I have some cucumbers growing on the kitchen windowsill, and I've been promised a few Tomato plants. Later today I plan to plant some Courgette, Sprout and Cucamelon seeds in pots on the dinning room table.

Thank you, I will keep them sheltered indoors and not water them for a bit and see what happens 🤞

That must be the most unusual reason I have heard for becoming a gardener! ;-)

You sound as if you have taken to it though. Enjoy your adventure :-)

That wasp nest that fetch posted is the nest of a solitary wasp. They are not agressive, unlike their commune dwelling cousins. Id leave it alone, as they are great pollinators.

Just read back after seeing Hanneke’s comment, sad to see someone suggested destroying the nest, wasps have a useful purpose so please don’t destroy them, we get nest from time to time but just learn to steer clear of them, they appear to choose new homes each year.
