Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

There are plenty of great TV serials which don't have a book behind them too of course. The West Wing, Breaking Bad, Cracker etc etc. They didn't need enhancing via a book.

Larks. I am showing my lack of TV watching. Not see any of those 3 you just mentioned :-)

To be fair, I've not see BB. But you really, really should watch the West Wing. Absolute class. I'm nearing the end of 7 series from the DVDs I bought 18 months ago, having not watched it all since it was originally aired. Absolute genius!

And indeed Our Friends In The North which Sharkie alluded to. That is epic on a grand style and the 4 central characters are all still top TV / film performers with tremendous CVs.

I watched Our Friends in The North, largely because Ecclestone was in it.

There is my problem with the West Wing, and others like that, series 7. I will not sit on my arse in front of that much TV. Which seems how TV is made now...how many hours can we wring out of something.

Yeah, I prefer movies WS - 2 hours and done. This 6, 12, 18 hours x 6 seasons thing is just untenable for me. I probably watch 10 hours of TV a week at most. And some of that is motor racing, athletics, rugby etc.! :-) G

In fairness, I did watch West Wing in the days when it was broadcast only, so it was a weekly commitment rather than the binge approach these days.

I have great trouble with most films too, as they are formulaic, star vehicles and are invariably shite, but my attention span rarely lasts longer than 30 minutes, which possibly explains a lot.
