The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free.
But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient.
Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead.
Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?
Many years ago I played classical guitar before moving on to electric and then falling into being a bassist as a band at school needed one. The conversation went something like:
"Can you play bass?" "No, but I can play guitar a bit" "Ok, then you can play bass"
And the rest, as they say, is history. I played in various bands throughout school, college, uni and for a while after but haven't really played for a good 6 years so I'm currently a lapsed musician.
I have a guitar obsession going on right now that rivals my initial running one. The void must be filled! I never took it seriously and pretty much stopped 10 years back. Now I'm into it I'm finding I'm not into playing the music I like to listen to. I'm gravitating to fingerstyle stuff like Irish folk, and blues. Neither of which have I ever listened to but are interedting to play. I also can't sing like I could - either cos of lack of practice, age, or the loss of youthful confidence.
I bought a 2nd hand bass practice amp a couple of weeks ago, really for my keyboard although I'd quite like to take up bass. The cello-ing is gradually improving, but I had a bit of a wobble the other week: teacher wanted me to find an ensemble, and I found one that would accept down to Grade 3 which is about what I am, but they wanted a 'party piece,' supposedly low pressure and not an audition, but to introduce you to everyone. I bottled it. Instead, I'm annoying the neighbours with Playalong Christmas
