Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Couldn't find a musician thread, so I thought I'd start one. I figured we could swap tips, recommendations for repertoire and suppliers etc., and have general musician chit-chat, and maybe even find other peeps to play some music with. All levels of musicianship welcome, and doesn't matter what instrument you play, or even if you're looking for advice because you're thinking of starting learning.

I'm a pianist and oboist, but very rusty on both. I started learning 'cello a month ago, and have aspirations to learn bass and join a band playing shouty music. Also have a few recorders, and have tinkered with guitars, although I have no idea what happened to them.

Nice idea RB.
I've been tinkering with the guitar for more years than I care to remember considering my lack of ability. I play acoustic and electric, and have dabbled with the harmonica and I can pick out a tune on the piano, but in a way that others wouldn't want to hear!
I play guitar occasionally with a church group and it's the only time that I get to play in band situation, but it's fun.
My main passion is electric blues, but I'm very much a bedroom guitarist most of the time.

I was in a band. Once upon a time we even got played on Peel (once). I've just bought a second hand bass and it goes with my collection of keyboards (3) and my guitar. Really time to start writing some more music again.

Hello ER and Chrisull :-)

I was once in a band, when I was still at school. I was hopelessly untrendy though, and was kind of dropped. The band wanted to be Human League c.1980, but in 1986, so I don't think we'd quite got it cracked anyway.

Haven't written music for a long time.

Wanting to be Human League c.1980 nowadays would be super cool. :-)

Hello! I'm a fairly competent pianist - although struggle to do enough proper practice to keep the level I would like. Particularly enjoy accompanying, and playing for musical theatre. Also play keyboards in a barn dance band. Dabble on the organ, and tinker with the sax. And also a fairly keen choral singer, singing in a couple of chamber choirs, and doing odd solo bits and pieces for other local choirs. Would love to play guitar too - but just can't get on with it!

I'm a banjo / ukulele / guitar beginner hoping to acquire a mandolin soon. Definitely only in the privacy of my own home at the mo!
