Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

@LindsD is the best company. Kind, funny and interesting. We have only met twice and it was like we had been good friends for years

Mum has had leg ulcers for a while. Unfortunately some have become infected. Chatted with her last weekend and mentally she was fine. But became very confused on Monday and now in hospital from a mix of confusion, interaction of antibiotics and her normal medication and also dehydration. I'm now staying with dad but hospital visits very difficult as mum not an easy patient in her current state ( normally she is a very nice person!). Hoping drip and medication kick in soon for all our sakes, particularly the other sick ladies in the beds adjacent to mum as she isn't very quiet as in her disoriented state she has lost all normal self awareness!

So sorry snail, that sounds really tough.

Another member of the Linds fan club - and I can attest that she's just as wonderful when you see her on a semi regular basis :-)

I thought I'd start a thread, as lots of us have elderly folks that we worry about/care for.

Also: After someone dies, if their home insurance was only in their name, sadly the cover becomes void. But if the policy was in joint names, it will still cover the surviving policyholder (though the names on the policy will need to be updated).

Pension Credit. The rules are a bit complex but if your elderly relative has some sort of disability (in this case dementia/Alzheimer's) and go into a home, they may be able to claim pension credit. So if carers allowance stops, it seems pension credit can start. It can also be backdated.
