Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

No need to apologise @Musashi

That sounds really horrible for you and your family. I hope the inquest doesn't take long and you can get some closure.

That’s what we’re here for Musashi, to dump out everything you need to say to *someone*

I’m sorry, that sounds very painful to keep drawing out for you & the family. I hope you can feel that you are one step further, even if it means more steps yet to come

Nothing at all to apologise for Musashi. That's an awful lot to deal with. Hopefully the inquest won't be too long and you can start to move on.

My MiL is quite cognitively intact but often repeats things she's already told me or tells me things as news that I've told her in the first place.

Reading that in one go (on top of some other things we’re dealing with) really brought it home how much we’ve been dealing with! Thanks everyone for your support. (Mrs Musashi)

Hugs to you both. That is such a lot to deal with. This is the place.

And thanks LMH. I think in a twisted way I want Mum to be cognitively declining because then it excuses her selfish and upsetting behaviour.

Also: After someone dies, if their home insurance was only in their name, sadly the cover becomes void. But if the policy was in joint names, it will still cover the surviving policyholder (though the names on the policy will need to be updated).

Pension Credit. The rules are a bit complex but if your elderly relative has some sort of disability (in this case dementia/Alzheimer's) and go into a home, they may be able to claim pension credit. So if carers allowance stops, it seems pension credit can start. It can also be backdated.
