Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

HG, are you saying that resistance is like the gears on a bike, lower gear = more revolutions but less speed, higher gear = fewer revolutions and more speed ?

:-)G yes that's the way it works - that's why it's possible to have online league tables at Concept2.com without any regard for which resistance setting you're using. You work just as hard to row 5K in a certain time on level 1 as on level 10.

I usually set it to level 3 as well. I'll give this a go on Friday. I need to warm up before my stretches anyway.

Exactly. It's like gears on a bike not like changing angle on a treadmill or putting brakes on on the bike or going up a hill on a bike. So I was told. I need to tell Blind Ken that you're doing a row challenge. He's awesome on sprint rowing. Not sure what he's like for longer distance, but bet he's good. :-)G

PH - personally I find it hard to row well at anything other than my preferred damper setting - which just so happens to be 5.

At the risk of being cavalier about this, if rowing at 5 is uncomfortable, then use the best setting for you.
My view is that there are going to be other variables that are going to have a bigger effect peoples distance than the damper setting, so we shouldn't get hung up on that and just have some fun.

If you beat my distance - I may change my view ;-)

Think i'll give this a go at the weekend. My current pb for 5000m is 22.02 so hopefully should be between 3400-3500 mark
