Every now and then I get an email from someone asking if I can quote for making/updating their websites. On the last two occasions these have been WordPress sites. I've never had much more than a play with WP, plus I don't generally have any spare time. So I'm wondering if there are any WP specialists that I could point people at. If this is you, leave some details here ![]() ![]() |

My friend runs a business which does this, tends to steer away from WordPress though (perceived security risks etc?) smallworldsystems.co.uk Any questions, feel free to give me a shout! Cheers, ![]() |

I don't touch the web side of coding, I'm on the signal processing / algorithm development / software side of things... Mostly Python, Matlab and C++ if really pushed, plus some C#, Javascript, and node.js if things get really bad!

I’ll see your FORTRAN, and raise you COBOL74 and Visual Basic 3. In fairness, all the paid-for code that I wrote in the 90s was finally decommissioned in the last couple of years.

More of a hardware person, wouldn't call myself a programmer, but working on chip and CPU design I have written quite a lot of Assembly language code, and some C. Used Python, Perl, Tcl and Unix shell scripts to automate various things. I run a couple of websites, but very simple - just static markdown files and simple javascript.

I've dabbled with bits and pieces, currently Python, SQL, previously XSLT for mangling XML to required specification, along with VBA macros. I keep thinking I should look at R and Webpress but have always run out of time to do it.

More of a team lead, engineering manager really these days, but software developer by background. Lots of C++ and Java in the past, but mostly what I do now is Javascript and Typescript using Node. And lots of cloud stuff. |

At work I develop code in Java, Groovy, C#, SQL, Perl, Unix shell script and Windows Power shell. At home run a couple of web sites so use HTML and CSS on Raspberry PI and Arduino platforms. |

I wouldn’t call myself a coder, but I have to say that Wordpress really is quite straightforward, at least at entry level. My daughter asked me to help create a website for her and so I bought this and the end result was this: www.lucysynge.co.uk I’m not posting this as a brag, but as a genuine recommendation for a really accessible guide to how to start out with Wordpress. |
