totally agree! Ours go up 2-3 days before Christmas! A lot of people are encouraging decs now though due to CV19 and an effort to cheer things up just makes cleaning the house more difficult and outside lights are light pollution and a waste of energy! Bar humbug

Generally speaking I absolutely agree - Christmas should stay in December with the only exception being when the first Sunday of Advent falls in November, and all decorations should be down by Jan 6th.
However, I have a friend whose wife was critically ill one year, they weren't sure if she would make it to the end of December, so they decided to have an early Christmas in mid November so that she would be there (and, I guess, that if she didn't make it they'd not be feeling terribly festive on the 'real' day).
Happily she pulled through and is still here, but now it's become their family tradition to get the decorations out early, and who can blame them, really?

There are several blinged-up houses with their trees up in our town already. I like the lights

I am normally a mid-December tree putter-upper, but I confess this year I think we may go with first weekend in December. I definitely need a bit of a lift and I like seeing the lights on the darker nights.

WS - agree that’s way too early, it’s not even dark yet in the photo.

I have historically been a bah humbug, and our tree didn't go up till Christmas eve last year! This year I am making up for it, by the 1st of December I expect we will have fairy lights outside (Just fairy lights, and actually they help getting in and out of the house in the dark!!) and the tree up!
I've always through pre November 11th is a little early though, lets have remembrance first, and let that settle.

1st December. Mrs Tro’s target to have all presents bought, tree purchased etc.
Me? I consider that date the start of any preparation and won’t do a thing before.
I have, however made Xmas puds for the next 3 years and made/eaten mince pies so perhaps resistance is crumbling in these crazy times.....
