He got out yesterday (we were still keeping them separate but it can't go on too long): was sort of OK with Ellie in that she just ran away, but he creeps up on Caspar as though he's a mouse and jumps on him! It's bizarre. Tried it again today and heard a screech from the garden; C came in and hid under the bed for a while. Ellie stayed away but came when I called her. Now they're separated again and I'm seriously thinking of consulting a cat behaviourist. We so want to keep him. I've ordered a refill of Feliway, maybe it'll help... Meanwhile he sits around and looks gorgeous, and is the purriest, most affectionate thing with us - or any human in fact.
