all I was suggesting was a filter on the leaderboard so that as well as seeing you were 987th overall, you were 321st if points from cycling were excluded

Daz welcome to the game. I think that would be too difficult and too big a minefield otherwise I'm sure fetch would have tried it. Shortcut - yep relay markers are great the furthest one of my has travelled is 136.75 miles before it disappeared. My furthest live one at the moment is 97.3 miles |

Mick - Fetch already does something similar to what Daz has suggested as part of the Conquersize game/leaderboard so in principle it looks the sort of thing that *could* be done technically. Whether it would add any value is a personal opinion - as somebody more interested in points than position, the value to me would be minimal but others are entitled to contrary opinions. The minefield question is a good one though - would we also want something to address the other causes of advantage/disadvantage inherent in the game such as availability of accessible markers within a player's home circle, distance to unowned ground available for flower planting or ability/willingness to upload activities before the bug penalties are taken at midday? Again, my personal opinion would be that there is no benefit in trying to account for these differences - each of us chooses where we live and how we exercise and there's nothing in the game that compels us to make any given choice over any other option. Ultimately, as has been said many times - *It's only a Game* (Goes away to wash mouth out ;)) |

Andy - I had thought of the Conquerize example but looking at the figures it appears to be split on 'training miles' not on the actual number of zones gained by either running or cycling into them and I'm sure it would not take much to include that type of information in the fetchpoint tables if it was felt there was a real need for it. My thinking was a bit deeper, as yours, in how could there be a 'true' split between points gained by running / cycling except at a very basic split. As an example I can safely only go three ways from my house so whether I run or cycle I have to follow the same routes, so some flowers will be planted by running others by cycling. Therefore if I run over a flower planted whilst cycling are the points gained running or cycling? You can see where this type of detail would take us and no doubt Fetch wouldn't have any hair left if he tried to do something along those lines? So my opinion is the same as yours there is no overall benefit in trying to account for these differences the game is 'as it is' and if you don't like it don't play but it does make getting out a bit more fun. |

I don't think it would be *difficult* - I'd be amazed if the relevant attributes and functions don't already exist - implementation of such a filter ought to be trivial. (and it'd be optional whether you applied it, so the game would proceed unchanged in nature and appearance to everybody who didn't want to apply the filter) |

This has come up before. Fetch said he can't split the cycling and running data. In part because if a file is uploaded it is processed immediately, the person might then change their training log from running to cycling or vice versa, but it wouldn't register differently.

My participation in this game is to keep me motivated to get out running, to vary the routes I run and to enter the prize draw at the end of the month.
