Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

My views on the ethics of meat eating are the same as Kinky's (but I do have to admit I could be a more responsible consumer).

Those people who say that all the land used for raising meat animals should be used for growing crops instead - I'd love to know how how they propose that ploughs and harvesters are going to manage the hills that a lot of sheep are kept on.

I'm saving Kinkers' post until I get to work with a hot cup of tea. BRB.

Excellent post by Kinky which illustrates how important it is to consider the wider implications of what we do, and how one aspect of how one lives cannot be considered in isolation but has a chain reaction leading to multiple effects in other areas.
Well written.

I suppose in the end, everything we do is a choice and every choice has a consequence. The vegan who chooses to have several children and drives to work is likely having a bigger impact than an occasional meat eater who is childfree and walks to work, but there's nothing wrong with having children or driving! Avoiding leather is one approach to minimising animal use, but if the alternative is non-renewable petrochemical-based synthetics or non-organic non-fairtrade cotton that damages people and the environment then maybe renewable leather is not such a bad option after all?

Balance and awareness, in life as in yoga :-)

Kinky's contribution on the previous page is far and away the best thing I have ever read on this topic.
