Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

*Trigger warning for life-threatening/stressful doggy situation*

Bella decided to go out onto the frozen lake yesterday on her walk with OH. So far that there wasn't a hope that he could reach her safely (the ice was not remotely thick enough for him to risk). She blithely ignored him for ages until a kind woman managed to get her attention with her higher pitched voice. He hadn't wanted to try some more effective recall techniques in case she was too enthusiastic and went through the ice.

He was in a bit of a state afterwards, poor thing. She seems to have been completely unaffected, so she'll be on the lead more often.

I'm not too bad, as I wasn't there, but I've rarely seen him so emotional.

I had a jack russell who was out on a walk with my dad and went through the ice in a deep pond. Dad reached out to him with a branch and he clambered/held on to it to be dragged to the edge. His fur was solid when they got home. Luckily only a shortish walk back through a field.
