Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

How often does he go out with the dog walker? Rory usually carries on going out with his every day even when I’m not at work (I feel slightly guilty about this and often end up pretending I’m going to do some kind of dog-unfriendly DIY...)

It turns out my dog walker does do dog boarding just for walk clients so as I’ve got a weekend away booked in March (who knows if it’ll go ahead) I’m seeing if I can book her and they like to do a trial night before any stays so that can be booked in to get a break. The bonus is that she already knows him and he knows her. I think I’d like to also find another person as a bigger “team” gives more options.

I’ve thought about borrow my doggy - may be worth a try too after all you don’t need to lend to anyone unless you’re totally happy.

Lockdown makes it harder as I’m sure if I could visit friends with him and he could get to know them, he could visit them for short periods too.

I’m less sure about doggy day care at the moment as Albie’s behaviour deteriorates when over tired and unless a place enforced some kind of down time I could see him becoming overwhelmed. And he’s already a bit boisterous and over excited when around other dogs (possibly because he doesn’t get much experience of it) Though I don’t know how it/day care works.

He goes out with the dog walker 3 days a week. On Wednesday and Friday she does 2 visits when I’m at work and this may or may not involve going out (sometimes it’s play/training inside usually at least for one of those visits). On Thursdays I work from home and she takes him out for a walk in the afternoon. I could certainly try booking her for an extra afternoon walk on a Monday or Tuesday. May try that next week.

I realise now how easily frustrated I get 😳 Though to be fair puppies do certainly push a lot of buttons!!
My stress won’t be helping the situation but it’s easier said than done to remain calm in the face of being bitten, lots of howling and lots of chewing of everything!

Must have been something about last night as Wanda was whinging and grizzling at about 4 am and took no notice of us calling down 'shush' and 'go back to bed' so I came downstairs to see if there was actually something the matter. I should have known better as she sits right by the kitchen door and as soon as I begin to open it she shoves past me like a brindle bullet and up the stairs into her bed on the landing before I've even got the door ajar. By the time I'd made my way back upstairs she was snoring her head off as if she'd been there for hours.

I was wondering if the wind and snow/hail was unsettling Albie the last 2 nights. It’s really not like him at all.

I’m going to take him upstairs again as he normally sleeps well. If he wakes I’ll take him outside then put him downstairs.

I’ve got work tomorrow and he’s never started a night downstairs. I just hope he sleeps. 🤞🤞

Just did my first run/walk with arlo in the canicross gear. Did 1.5 miles in total. He ran the first half mile before getting distracted. He ran ahead but wasn't pulling (which is good for now so not much pressure from the harness).

Most of the time he just wanted to run next to me. Did amaze a few walkers when I shouted go left and he actually turned left. Havent trained him, he just knows that we usually walk that way 😂

And Pen, not sure how I haven't seen that pic until now, but that's a lovely picture of what looks a very happy pup.

That's a great picture - and although we don't do cani-cross running I do the same with Wanda when out on a walk I'll say Left or Right if she is walking ahead of me but always in places where she would almost certainly do that anyway because it's the way home. We don't usually get people looking at Wanda and being impressed so we have to take these small things when we can!
