Sadly, not even close. But I keep trying!

Just added another race to next year's portfolio (Ashby 20 in March) and my Milton Keynes Half race number has arrived in the post. Not going to be a PB as not done enough training but looking forward to running in a crowd again. Love race day atmosphere :)

If this thread has taught me anything it's that there is a lot of awesomeness about :)

Great but kind of busy day. First pool session with canoe club tonight but not til 9.15. I'm usually in my PJ's by that time on a Friday. Hopefully it will be good fun and worth dragging myself back out for.

I am sat on the sofa in front of the fire.

Had a meeting this morning, with the artist I run the arts workshops for people with early stages of dementia for. We are hoping to do the same workshops at another venue, so two mornings a week, from September 2015 onwards. I am hoping to get a grant for it, so we discussed all sorts. They now will go up to their superiors to get the go ahead and to accounting to get the cost element of their contribution quantified. They will provide the space, refreshments, 2x staff and transport for those who can't get there under their own steam. I am also meeting with the funding specialist at the council next week. Grant applications are a minefield and I got the current grant thanks to him :)

I also need money for at least one other project... pfffft...

Then I am also working on setting up my herb business. When I had that info day (with free lunch) on Wednesday, I got loads of info to work with. Things are looking quite positive on the grant front there too. I fit in exactly with a new grant scheme being rolled out in 2015, for setting up micro businesses in disadvantaged rural area's. It is an EU grant and it would potentially fund up to 40% of my capital investment needed to set up my business. This is great news, as in order to set up the herb business, I need to build a workshop in my field. I also need to buy a small array of equipment for processing the herbs and I need a new computer and a laser printer. I obviously don't have that sort of money. However, if I manage to convince the people with whom I had a pension fund until I was made redundant to pay me out the current value of it as a lump sum, I will have enough money to build my workshop/treatment room if I got a 40% grant as well. I most likely will also have money to put a solar power system on the roof. This costs £7,000 to put in, but will yield £20,000 over 20 years! You won't find a better return on investment!!! OK, this will leave me without a pension, but with a bit of luck, the business will take off and getting £1000 a year out of the electricity is a good start! The payout on my pension from age 48 isn't that much more!!!

So, fingers crossed my plans work out! Feeling a tad drowned in information about funding and grants at the moment, but the meeting next week will hopefully help see things more clearly.
