Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Bad karma will hit the vile woman and I'll be there to see it.

We were hoping to move into our new home this coming Friday, but a last minute hitch means we will still be in short-term rental for the time being. It's the first time since 1988 I've not owned my own home and it's taking a bit of getting used to . . . I'm 53 now, lost my last remaining parent three years ago and have been made redundant four times since the late 90's. This is hellishly stressful

It is Derby. I've had a terrible 2 years and have been really looking forward to a fresh start back in the centre of the city in my friendship support group.

I've now had to reduce the price to £145k. The flat is empty of everything so looks start. The charity who took my furniture and white goods badly scratched the front door so I need to get it repainted + the 2 matching porch cupboards. It was only painted 4 months ago.

I'm really worried that I won't be able to sell it at all. The issues from the canceller were:

Having to add another 99 years to the lease at some point (suggest 2 years time) = £2k. There are 97 years on it at the mo.

Costs of major repairs. Flat is in a block of 4 and service charge is £21.50 per month. Any major repairs would be shared between the 4 flats, but I get all contractors notifications for the whole estate which I imagine looks scary, especially if solicitors can't unravel it or ask the question: "How does it apply to my block?".

I'd be grateful for any help. I feel so trapped. No-one can work out what the issue is but there must be something toxic about my estate or I'm pricing it too high.

No-one who's looked at it has mentioned the lack of gas central heating. There's just one old storage heater. I thought it may be an issue, but perhaps they want to get in electric central heating.

Oh and the estate's LEA and ex-LEA. The estate was bought off a developer who went bankrupt so the houses and flats are not traditional LEA build and the location's in a green suburb overlooking woods. We don't have issues on the estate at all but I guess buyers aren't to know that.

I get the feeling that some people look around and are really keen but then go away and then go away and change their minds, maybe after research. I checked some local crime reporting sites and instances of burglaries are really low, ditto breach of the peace and car crime.

One of the problems is some "buyers" are dreamers. Whether consiously or not they don't look into the finances or purchasing a property prior to making offers

Our story is getting worse; we were 48 hours from completion last week. Now it seems like a million miles

Complicated story and sorry, but probably not for here Meglet. Our "stuff" is in storage and I suspect we might end up renting for 6 months before having another go. I've bought three houses previously over the last 30 years or so and we seem to have hit a patch of bad luck

That's awful DT, I really sorry. Especially when you get that close and you've made plans in your head already, not to mention spent a load of money. :-(

Sounds like we're in the same position.
