Our late-April bike club trip to Mallorca isn’t happening. Second time it’s fallen over: originally booked through Thomas Cook but then resurrected from the ashes. Clearly it’s a first-world problem, but nonetheless I’m pretty disappointed.

I may be wrong, but I figured the reason for avoiding travel was more to do with a) public transport, and b) not having your own space when you get to wherever you're going - staying in a hotel or whatever - and the complications that would arise if you then had to self isolate there for 14 days: who would pay for extra accommodation, for example, and would hotels be obliged to keep housing gusts who were isolating etc?
so if you're going from one house that's yours and you can stay in indefinitely and without having to have contact with others to another house that's the same, then it wouldn't be an issue?

Well that's what I thought at first, but it's the 'just in case you had an accident on the journey (:-0) and would call on emergency services who really don't need extra work' aspect that puts me off Rae.
I imagine we'll leave it for a few weeks and see how things go. If we emulate France everyone will need a piece of paper to go anywhere

Arguably all the more reason to go now, if that’s where you would prefer to be.

BMCR have just cancelled everything for 6 weeks as well - so now I need to decide if I will join the gaming world, it's a lot of money for something I don't really want but a weekly smackdown is probably what I need to stay motivated

ITU cancelled all events until 30th April, but say it's too early to say if they'll cancel the world championships in September.
by the way, the version of the French lockdown rules that we've given by the FCO is
- The French Government outlined new measures on 16 March to stem the spread of coronavirus, including restricting the movement of people from midday 17 March for 15 days to journeys that are absolutely necessary, such as food shopping, seeking medical care, journeys to work where working from home is not possible, or exercising.
Belgium are expected to move to something similar soon, I believe. I'm actually not sure what the Dutch have said...
