Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Curerently 'old school' Snail, Canon EOS 6D Mk II and their EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM. Yes, the lens was twice the price of the camera.

I'm losing patience and probably soon to switch to mirrorless and probably much the same again, ie R6 and the RF 100-500 lens. But there's lots of rumours of an imminent new R6 model, so I'm undecided whether to wait for that, and then assess if it's worth the extra. Or just go for the reduced price 'current' model, that I suspect Canon is trying to flog off before any new model announcement.

Magpies and Jackdaws battling to get to the fat ball feeders. Despite being a slightly smaller bird, the Jackdaws arenโ€™t intimidated by the Magpies.

Jackdaws are heavier than Magpies (ref bto.org). And more badass.

Swans. We have indeed 8 cygnets this year (one missing from today's picture).

I would say less evil than the magpies but we came across another nest on the Tees earlier this week, with mum still sat on eggs. Suddenly the cob came from nowhere and launched an attack at a family of geese. All 5 goslings disappeared under the water for a good few seconds, and the two dads had something of handbags for a few minutes.

I understand swans being territorial with other swans (our resident pair have a big lake all to themselves, for example) but I was surprised to see it spill over into another species.
