Ghost walk! We thought they would be crap but really good! York minster is fantastic Even walking the wall is great Railway museum is quiet good (I went to York about 8 times with year 8!) River cruises are good as they also give you info The shambles is the oldest street in England I believe and has some nice tea shops |

For oarkruns, how are you travelling (ie car or train) and where are you staying? Heslington is my home parkrun. Is 5 laps round a cycle track which sounds dull but I quite like it. Is by the east campus of the university. York is at York racecourse. 1 and 2/3 laps of the racecourse service road. Both of them are fast. There is also New Earswick which goes round a field and has been rained off for ages due to saturated field. If I know when you’re coming I will come to whichever you choose assuming I’m around 😊 |

I’m not so good on places to stay - there are many travelodge/premier inn other hotels and Airbnbs around the place. If the races are on prices go up (think there’s a weekend around the middle of May with races). Walk round the walls - is about 3 miles and gives you a good view. Walking along by the river also good (hopefully won’t have fallen out again). Castle Museum is good. As is Railway Museum. There are many eating places - I don’t actually eat out that much 😳 so hopefully someone else can advise 😃 |

Railway Museum. Brew York brewery and various food stuff, tie that in with the walls walk. Alcohol free available |

The York museum is brilliant. And the national rail museum is also v good. I'm also told the bishops house is worth a visit. But loads of museums! And there's the walls of course. Easiest parkrun to get to from centre is the racecourse, but none are difficult really. Racecourse - 1.5 laps round outside on flat traily track Heslington bike track - 5 laps on flat cycle track which gets a bit interminable by the 3/4 time round. New Eastwick - 2 flat laps of muddy fields. Most low key one. |

Food/drinkwise - throw a stick and you'll hit about 4million pubs in the city centre

We stayed in the Travelodge near the race course a few years back and used the park and ride
