Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Skosh skoshyork.co.uk one of the best meals I've had. Really great atmosphere and staff too.

is a good Indian restaurant, on Fossgate. Will need to book.

The street food market / food court, off the back of The Shambles, offers a few choices for lunchtimes.

Cliffords Tower is now worth a visit. It has recently added a viewing platform on the roof.

I enjoyed York Dungeons. It won't be everyone's cup of tea but theatrically it was smashing.

Recommend abnb.me as a place to stay. Owned and run by a fellow runner.

Eateries….
sparkyork.org
burgsys.co.uk
delriosrestaurant.com

Caveat on the eateries is that it’s been a couple of years since we were up there.

Visit the railway museum if that’s your thing…

Many thanks for all the suggestions. Our trip is confirmed now (to coincide with my 60th birthday). Keep them coming and I’ll read through them

IdrisTheDragon we’re likely coming by train but I’ll let you know if we can co-ordinate with a Parkrun

I really enjoyed this for food, though I admit I was especially impressed by the quality of the wines. I went on a Monday so it was probably quieter, but I suspect other days you'll probably need to book a table.

Stef and I are thinking about having a couple of nights in York later in the spring. Any advice please on restaurants, accommodation, things do do and see, plus the best Parkrun :-)
