Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

sorry, hadn't meant for it to confuse you - if anything, to give you confidence that 3:29 is doable as it appears 'cautious' if anything! I like this one because of the range of suggested predictions - all of which for us are well under 3:30 based on the HM times we've recently done!

I'm very confident of a PB irrespective of weather or not I get to 3.29 But with the training I've managed to get through, by no means as high as many others, I would like to hit target.

It's just the tapering......it's just the tapering........

Sorry to sound negative but.... I've always under performed against calculations at marathon. Could be because I took my first too easy (Edinburgh, 3.52.58), my second was hilly and I was ill (Snowdonia 3.42.23) and I undertrained for Barcelona (3.58.58).

So I guess I should be more positive :-)

3.37 half on a hot day could be quite a few mins faster on a Cool day. Diff people are affected differently by the heat.

C I never do more than 5 miles at or faster than MP. I've done no progressive long runs but when I did do them in the past I did no more than 5 miles at PMP
This time round I have done a few tempo runs at faster than MP, the longest I do is 5 miles though
I havnt got round to doing many intervals so have just managed a few sessions of 10x 1 min hard. 1 min easy,

Yes you are right claire I have had a few hard races....
Last weekend 55 miles
Previous weekend. HM PB
Previous weekend 20 mile PB
Previous weekend 2 x 29 miles

So I was not at all tapered for today's 3.27. I did only do 4 miles yesterday but I ran twice each day in the week, mostly easy pace though.
Therefore as C says I can prob do faster for a marathon ( not 10 mins though) so don't look at my times and think you can't do it cos my half is faster than yours

BV - my legs strted to get tired in the last few miles and I had to work for the last 4 ish to keep the pace. I certainly wasn't my hardest marathon. The hardest ones have been where I have slowed a lot in the second half most likely due to setting off too fast
