Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

I dont follow a plan but just want to check would 3 long runs on the trot be fairly normal for you? You dont want to over do it. I would be inclined to do my longest run which would be the 3.30 time on feet the weekend after next and sometime a bit shorter this coming weekend if you are not used to 3 long ones on the trot.

I havent done 3 20+ runs in a row before, no. good point. was not sure about the 3.30 time on feet only 3 wks before but think that may be a better idea. or i could do the 23lsr this weekend then drop to 16 the week after with up to 10 pmp??!! But i have previously done a 20 3 weeks away from mara...

I usually do my longest run 3 weeks before (when doing proper marathon training) thats why I suggested your 3.30 time on feet then. Otherwise if you do that this weekend then 16 you are almost doing a 4 week taper which I think is too long. I would be inclined to do 16 ish this weekend then 3.30 on feet next weeekend. If you are worried about it being too close then keep the pace slow and do some PMP in your 16. If not then do the 16 slow (cos you did PMP at Ashby yesterday ) then do some PMP in the one 3 weeks out. I wouldnt do 3 weeks on the trot with PMP as part of your LR though.

Think as wel you need to see how you are feeling. Its al very well looking at what looks ideal on paper but if you are feeling really in 2 weekends time you might just want to do it all slow and then do some PMP in a run during the week instead. Also, depends on other life events and if you have time for the 3.30 in 2 weeks time

Morning all.

I'm feeling incredibly good after the East Hull 20. Taper starts today and I'm fitter and faster than I've ever been. Just need to avoid doing anything stupid...

Good stuff DeeGee :)

I'm still learning the long run stuff Claire as only ever done one 20 miler before a marathon in 2008 and again 2009. I've no really a great base and know I need time to recover from the long runs so last long run is 3 an half weeks out but longest long run. I'm aiming Sub 3:15 mind but still here as no got 3:30 yet! For those interested my (own made up with bits moved an dropped depending how I felt) schedule looks like this -

Thu 19th Jan - 16 with 10 @ MP
Mon 30th Jan - 18 LR
Mon 6th Feb - 20 LR
Mon 13th Feb - 22 LR (progressive on my own)
Wed 22nd Feb - 16 with 12 @ MP
Mon 27th Feb - 22 LR (supposed to be about planned mara time but 3:06 instead of 3:12)

Wed 7th Mar - 18 LR
Mon 19th Mar - 18 with 14 @ MP

Last Long Run Tues or Wed 28th - 20 miles

Not sure if I'm on or not but I did.

This weekend 5 miles progressive as it was a cut back week.

11/3 20 miles (5 lsr ,6 MP plus60, 3 MP plus45, 6 lsr) legs a touch tired
4/3 20 miles (pissed it up as 2nd half was a lot harder i.e hilly) 10 miles at MP plus 60 then 10 miles all over place as hilly but hard effort.
26/2 20 miles LSR pace

I have done a fair bit of HMP stuff but not a lot of MP
