Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

FR - your ability is not limited at all. I just looked at your PBs - almost exactly the same as mine at distances below 20 miles. You can do it.

FR if I have the balls to go for it then so do you! I am still doing speedwork but the focus will be different from now, with one of the sessions being converted into teaching myself to do "a bit faster than is completely comfortable" for longer distances.

I plan to set off at about 7.55 pace and stay there for as long as I can. I know from experience that if I set off much faster than target pace I'll crawl the last 6 miles.

I like 7.45 pace can I keep it going for 26 m dunno. I think it's envitable you'll get some slippage i.e 8.30s so 7.45 is a safe pace.

And buff those balls up

Sounds like ball buffing is your only option.

One thing that worked for me, was reading other people's blogs who had cracked it a week or two before me and saying to myself,if he/she can do it then so can I. You want to remind yourself that you have done all that training and that it isn't going to waste andgive yourself a bit of a pep talk. On the day, just set out to go all miles sub-8 and without any further time pressures, and you will be fine (probably :-)). You will know it is in the bag with a couple to go.

Thanks to a great deal of good advice I'm really happy and chilled about having an attempt at sub-3:30. Really looking forward to the next block of training. Positive in the thought I have an inkling with regard to what is required. In fact if it wasn't for the 'buzz' of racing the training is more fun!

Good stuff FR :) I sometimes think that's how I feel. Hoping the buzz stays come taper time!

I had a lovely progressive 22 in 3 hours yesterday. Started at 8:3x and down to 8 / Sub 8 for 10 miles. Overall avg at 8:08 and felt pretty good. If I feel anything remotely close to that 'good' with 4.2 to go at London I'll be a happy Smout :)

Awesome running, Smout. Never been anywhere near that in training. In fact, only been quicker to 22 miles at the Abingdon marathon.

Good going Smout thats good pace. I had a slow 20 on Sunday in the ice and snow, but did manage to do my last 5 miles 2 minutes quicker than the previous 3 (blocks of 5), so feel in quite a good place at the moment. Going to test my pace at half marathon on 11th March.
