Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Baz, I went to the book. You're simply on the plan up from the one the one I have been consulting. The one I have been looking at is pg 222, 56-70 mpw Q2 plan.

I see now the session from week 1. Wow! Here's the bulk of the plan less the first 3 weeks.

I'd love to see somebody try and setup the Garmin for those sessions? ;-) (other GPS devices are available) ;-)

Well as usual my schedule will revolve around mileage and as many runs as possible.

Rough idea is to build to around 80mpw by the end of the year for a reasonable base to start training from :-)
Probably training runs at Brighton and Halstead (if I can't see anything more appealing Europe) and then a proper raced effort at Berlin(Only target for next year :-o)

I have never been injured through mileage when I have built up sensibly adding 5-10M per week. Had niggles when increased too quick or done too much speed but too be fair head goes before body.

I think it looks a fairly simple to understand plan. 2 quality sessions a week (Q1 and Q2) make the rest 'easy' running based on the fraction of the peak.

All the sessions make sense to me.

Then again I have been seeing WW's sessiosn on strava (3E+17MP+2E) for the last few months!

Tend to agree with Gobi.

You'd have to be very well trained up to run all the sessions in JD properly and have great recovery to be able to bounce back for the next.

I just question how 6 'easy' plus 2 'tempo' plus 6 'easy' plus 2 'tempo' plus 1 'easy' has any validity? Why not 5.5 + 2.5 or 5 + 3 for the initial burst, why is 6 + 2 better?

And, as an additional question, would that vary in session be valid if the runner was capable of a 10 minute tempo in comparison to a 5 minute tempo?

FR - Fair enough re not uncommon. TBF I can't imagine I'll ever follow a schedule.
