Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Ditto here, had copies of White Fang and Call of the Wild, and I vaguely remember the film of Call of the Wild.

I mentioned a while back that I was re-reading a clutch of green Penguin Golden Age crime novels.
I've enjoyed them all so far but the best of the lot is my current read, The Franchise Affair by Josephine Tey. I'm going to bed early because being snuggled in a cosy bed reading it is so enjoyable! (I only read in bed.)

I’ve joined the library’s diverse reading group. Small group of 6 of us inc library staff member, who heads up and takes part.

We’re reading The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstein. I’m 2 pages in. Started reading in bed but needed to sleep.

I wonder what you'll make of that book RS. I didn't like it but I can't think of a 'magic realism' (is that what the genre is called?) novel that I have liked.
Ah, just looked it up. Seems the genre is 'speculative fiction'.

I also only read in bed. The only time I've deviated from this is when I binge-read all Patrick O'Brien's Jack Aubrey books during the pandemic.

Just finished Raising Hare which I thought was wonderful. Beautifully written, absolute gem of a book.

Have started The List of Suspicious Things by Jennie Godley. Really loving it so far. Takes me right back to growing up in the North in the 70's when the Yorkshire Ripper was at large.

I bought Raising Hare for two people for Christmas but disappointingly neither of them has lent it to me yet :)

I was going to buy Mrs D Raising Hare for Christmas, but didn’t. The Jennie Godley sounds interesting

Bint - both of those are on my want to read list. Will order them now from the library. Thanks for the reminder.
