I had to check myself with the recent incident in DC - after every single criticism of Israel was decried as antisemitism by Israel and people like Campaign Against Antisemitism, reading all the reports calling this an antisemitic attack curled my lip - more anti-Zionist than antisemitic, I thought. But I think this is the danger of escalating every perceived slight (eg the overreaction to Lineker's recent error), that the real AS issues get doubted. Netanyahu's current outburst is a distraction technique, to try and allow Israel to continue their annihilation campaign with impunity. |

In the first few days after the Hamas attacks, I could at least rationalise Netayahu's approach as a leader of a country which had suffered such a horrendous attack in terms of an angry and aggressive response as not being beyond the range of responses that I might expect. That's a long way from me agreeing with it, just a very reluctant acceptance that in the world we live in the Israeli response was extreme but not completely abnormal. But looking at it from where we are now, it's clear that he leads a monstrous and genocidal government, and it is good to see some of the European nations starting to come to that sort of view too. |

Shameful that it’s taken so long to recognise what was glaringly obvious from day 1 though.

Yep. "Israel has the right to withhold power and water though"! Utterly shameful. |

Must admit I for one didn't expect Israel's response to be so long lasting. Others on here were more successful at predicting, certainly.

National government attacking universities too in the US. Controlling the seats of learning because they are potential hotbeds of radical thought and intellectual challenge is right out of the 1930s playbook isn't it?

This is all stuff from 2023. Starmer said that Israel had the right to defend itself, whilst ensuring it stayed within International Law. I think he got himself a bit tied up and effectively defended cutting off water and power, but then rowed back on it days later. |

Took more than days and they were briefing that people that were annoyed were basically not wanted in the party. Thornberry was sent on News night to defend obvious nonsense.
