I wasn't actually testing to see if our volunteer would call me back when I walked off with my token after I'd scanned. But he didn't. (I did give it back, though).

I had similar once. Guy in 1st place went tearing along adjacent to the funnel shouting "it's short!", then came back maybe 30-60 seconds later and approached the tokens person from the rear end asking for token 1, which had now been handed out since 3-4 others had finished. He emailed in afterwards. I told him the course had been measured, we need people to go through the funnel for the system to work, and gave him the option of accepting his #5 token or having the result deleted. He left it there. |

We've had various people emailing in to say our course is short, and including screen shots of their Strava. I just email back with a screen shot of mine, which shows we're actually slightly long. Most people who complain about the course length don't seem to realise their watch isn't actually in constant contact with the satellite, or that connection sometimes fails in the wooded area.

I know it probably means a lot to some people but at the end of the day itβs a free 5k run. I get people use it for club standards or whatever. Iβm so glad Iβm not bothered.

Most odd that people believe a GPS watch against a person with a measuring wheel. ![]() |

My parkrun was 4.91 km on the watch today. Two laps, plenty of trees. I took splits at lap starts and halfway-ish. Split 1/3 1.12/ 1.15 km Split 2/4 1.12/ 1.06 km (and start/finish bits) The distance on any day is unknown until the end: usually under, sometimes over. |

The 'old' Cambridge (Milton) parkrun always used to under record due to : a) Trees. b) The GPS would cut corners (maybe) due to a) Trees. The RD back in the day measured the course multiple times, and it was definitely 5km. |
